CHALMERSFAMILYDec.2011 “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain...” Psalm 127:1 It is with this verse in mind that we have been asking God to open doors of opportunity to encourage churches and individuals to get involved in world mission. As Area Mobilisers with OMF we have had the privilege to work with people from other mission agencies. Meeting with these folk has been a highlight and they have been an encouragement when we have felt a bit “alone”. Often we find ourselves advising someone to join AIM or Wycliffe! We work together, not in competition, to see Gods work done. During the last months, we have spent some time learning our new job: learning about our role with other area mobilisers but most of the time actually doing the job. There have been openings to speak in some churches. One fellowship in Bath asked us to conduct a seminar on how to be a better missionary-sending church. We have held day conferences in Exeter and Bournemouth where we had some great speakers and met some amazing OMF supporters. It’s been good to get to know the various prayer groups in different parts of our area, some of whom have been praying for OMF for over 40 years!! Charles has had lots of opportunities to be part of University Christian Union Mission Fairs, from Oxford to Aberystwyth and others in between. He has travelled 1825 miles this last month, even had the unique experience of being towed home after breaking down on the M5! (Praise the Lord for emergency recovery!) We give thanks for some serious inquirers wanting to serve the Lord long term in Asia and for a number wanting to serve short term. Pray for us as we discern with them the way ahead. We would also ask prayer as we think about 2012 and make plans for day and residential conferences in the area. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A MOBILISER TOO? ……………..…YOU CAN!!! There is a new OMF / Latin Link video series called “Engaging In Mission” which you could play at your church or just hand to the Pastor/Missionary committee/youth leader. You can view and download it at this link: http://vimeo.com/26331220 Could you help us put together a day conference near you? We need people who can make tea, people who can sit on reception, people who can play the piano, people who can operate a computer and people who can make soup. We’d love to have you on board! Family news….Joseph, Bethan and Sarah are well. We’ve moved into a different phase with the children all at comprehensive school. Joseph has begun year 12 which seemed fun at the start but is beginning to get challenging! The local church youth group has been so helpful for Joseph. Bethan seems to have finally made some friends at school…one is a Christian and this has been an answer to prayer. Sarah just doesn’t like school and hasn’t enjoyed the transition to year 7. Monday mornings are particularly difficult! She’s really looking forward to the Christmas break! Praying that we all have time to pause and reflect on God’s amazing gift to us as we celebrate Christmas. ‘What can I give Him…give Him my heart’. Thanks again for praying for us over this past year. Have a very Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year.
